Work with Reel South! We're hiring a Digital Producer

Jan 9, 2024 by Nicholas Price

PBS documentary series Reel South seeks a skilled digital producer with a passion for short-form documentary and online storytelling. Our digital producer will play a critical role on our close-knit team, including packaging, posting, promoting, and tracking metrics on Reel South’s growing slate of independently produced short films. The new digital producer role is a six-month, part-time, freelance/contract position beginning in January 2024, with a likely renewal through the end of 2024 (and possibly into 2025). Payment and contract employment will be conducted with PBS North Carolina.

This position is remote, with preference given to applicants based in the American South.

  • Diversity and Representation

Reel South’s mission has long centered on the belief that the people of the contemporary American South are often overly simplified and misrepresented in our national media. We exist to counteract those harmful stereotypes. We search for an applicant who wants to see the South’s diversity represented -- from long-marginalized voices of BIPOC, queer, trans, immigrant, and native communities, as well as individuals with disabilities. Additionally, we define diversity across the multitude of ideas, faiths, and philosophies that make up the wide-ranging generations that work in and call this place home. Employment will not be based on any one factor exclusively, and we encourage applicants of any age, race, ethnicity, national origin, or gender identity to apply.

This job is meant to be performed sitting or standing in front of a computer for multiple hours consecutively. Applicants should plan to utilize their own computer/laptop, while access to some required computer applications and programs will be provided. The deadline to submit is rolling but resumes will be reviewed beginning January 15. Apply for the position by filling out this form.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, color, disability, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or status as a protected veteran.
